Since summer reading is a preventative measure for summer slide and boredom, our suggestion is "bunker down" with a book!
Go ahead, make reading a cool and exciting routine year around!
Be patient with children and adults who 'say' reading is not fun. The time that individuals devote to reading will increase as they begin to value the information that they may gain during the process. If one isn't internally motivated to read, perhaps you can entice them with a book or story that motivates them externally.
Did you know that stories can help you relax when stressed? Stories give us moments to steal away in our quiet little summer reading nook and imagine until our hearts are content! Just say, most people close a book and walk away with a different perspective on life, if the storyteller has done his or her job.
Hey! I'm spending all of this time writing about how fun reading is; but...you already know this!
